My next show is Friday, May 18th at the Bitter End - starting @ 8. Doors @ 7 for the opening act, so if you get there early, you can grab a drink and settle in at a table. My set should last around an hour…hope you can make it!
I have a good feeling about this show because I finally accomplished something I’ve been meaning to for forever. When I started writing the song “Just West“, I had never been out West.
And this weekend I finally went.

I accepted a very last minute invitation to Las Vegas, and, in 24 hours flat, I asked for time off, booked a flight, packed my bag, and traveled 2500 miles to quench my thirst for sun and sand. After savoring the man-made marvels of the city, we rented a car and drove west. What we found was Red Rock Canyon, just west of the city. Unbelievably awesome. We drove around the scenic way at sunset, and we left once it had gotten dark and some thin clouds started to roll in. And there, in the desert, I fact-checked the lyrics of my song (see below)
I wanna go out West [true. done and done] where the air is hot and dry [true during the day. false if a breeze blows at dusk. then it's freezing.] but it’s clear at night – when the stars come out and their light shines down [sometimes true. false if there's a Zeus-like lightning storm going on] and the sky goes on forever [so true. even true after dusk - in a lightning storm.] the roads are long, [true.] but they’re straight [true and false.] so you can see where you’re going [true. when the land lies mostly flat.] Do you know where you’re going? [yes - out west again asap] I’d like you to come with me. [true.]
I’m going to try to add a new piece to the song before next week’s show. If you come, you can tell me if you like it. I hope you will.
