No great story ever began with: ‘It was cold, so I stayed home…’
- Subway poster
Yes, it probably matters who you’re staying home with. But, if you’re willing to trek down to the Living Room tonight, I can promise some cozy seats, fun company, and groovy tunes. Yes, groovy.
Hope to see you tonight!
First – THANK YOU for coming to the Bitter End on Friday night. Great group - a fun show to play!
Second – I’m playing again this Friday April 12 @ 9:30 at *the Living Room* at Stanton & Ludlow (map below).
No cover at this one, just music + drinks!
See you Friday @ 9:30!
Just West is one of the songs I’m most proud of. I’ve been tailoring it for almost as long as I’ve been playing guitar and I think of it whenever I feel like a change of scenery. It’s about running away to get what you want and bringing along what you’ve already found. I finally posted a recording, enjoy!
PS – Hope to see you at my Bitter End show on Friday!
After a gap year, I’m back!
I’m playing a gig at the Bitter End! Come!
This time, I’m picking a post-show watering hole in advance. I’m always starving…plus nobody wants to end the night early with so many awesome people together in one place! Selection is difficult after the first few, so this is where the planning thing comes in handy.
And yea, last time, we skipped dinner and chased the show with tequila shots at Dos Caminos…
Any suggestions near The Bitter End?? Let me know! And then I’ll let you know!
**NEW SONG** “Worth It” – Check it out!
Thanks and gracias for coming to the Bitter End last Friday – great turnout! I’m pretty sure this was the best show yet…and it’s hugely due to all your beautiful faces in the crowd. Impossible to play without your reactions. Fun times at Dos Caminos afterwards – I’ll try to throw together a concrete plan for an after party the next time I play…but who knows when that’ll be??
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD RECORDING STUDIO IN NYC?
I’d really like to get my songs down properly so I can cross that off my to-do list.
My next show is Friday, May 18th at the Bitter End - starting @ 8. Doors @ 7 for the opening act, so if you get there early, you can grab a drink and settle in at a table. My set should last around an hour…hope you can make it!
I have a good feeling about this show because I finally accomplished something I’ve been meaning to for forever. When I started writing the song “Just West“, I had never been out West.
And this weekend I finally went.
I accepted a very last minute invitation to Las Vegas, and, in 24 hours flat, I asked for time off, booked a flight, packed my bag, and traveled 2500 miles to quench my thirst for sun and sand. After savoring the man-made marvels of the city, we rented a car and drove west. What we found was Red Rock Canyon, just west of the city. Unbelievably awesome. We drove around the scenic way at sunset, and we left once it had gotten dark and some thin clouds started to roll in. And there, in the desert, I fact-checked the lyrics of my song (see below)
I wanna go out West [true. done and done] where the air is hot and dry [true during the day. false if a breeze blows at dusk. then it's freezing.] but it’s clear at night – when the stars come out and their light shines down [sometimes true. false if there's a Zeus-like lightning storm going on] and the sky goes on forever [so true. even true after dusk - in a lightning storm.] the roads are long, [true.] but they’re straight [true and false.] so you can see where you’re going [true. when the land lies mostly flat.] Do you know where you’re going? [yes - out west again asap] I’d like you to come with me. [true.]
I’m going to try to add a new piece to the song before next week’s show. If you come, you can tell me if you like it. I hope you will.
Will I see you at the Bitter End, my friends?!?!
I’m playing Friday May 18th @ 8pm – hope you’ll join me there!
Here’s a clip from my show back in March…enjoy!
